Will Turner

Agribusiness Management

Will Turner came to Delaware Tech to continue playing baseball and expand his knowledge in agriculture so he would be prepared to take over his family’s farm one day.

He has been excelling at both.

“I knew I would be farming in the future and I knew I would be taking over my family farm,” Turner said. “So, I needed to major in something that would help me do that.”

Turner said he grew up helping with all aspects of his family farm, including driving tractors and other equipment, and planting and harvesting crops.

It was an added bonus that Turner was able to achieve both goals at the same institution – playing for Delaware Tech’s baseball team while being enrolled as an agriculture major. Turner said he was hooked on baseball as soon as he first played the game.

“Baseball was big in my area and everyone played Little League,” he said. “It’s something I fell in love with early.”

Turner had several impressive highlights for the College’s baseball team in his freshman season and became a starting outfielder and key member of the batting order as a sophomore. He said being a member of the team has given him some of his favorite memories in life and he has built friendships with his teammates that he hopes will last a long time.

After graduating from Delaware Tech, Turner is hoping to be able to play at least two more years of baseball. Before becoming a farmer, he would like the opportunity to see if he could make it as a professional baseball player.
