Campus HR/Payroll Coordinator

LaKecia Williams, a Delaware Tech graduate, began working as a human resources and payroll coordinator at the Owens Campus in Georgetown in 2023.

“I came home from my first day exhausted and overwhelmed with all of the new information,” Williams said. “I am the type of person that wants to understand as soon as I am taught, but I know that it doesn’t work like that.”

Still, she was happy to be back on campus.

“It was a perfect fit that brought me back to where my college career began,” she said.

Prior to starting her position with Delaware Tech, Williams worked in retail and as a loan officer. When she’s not working, she showcases her creative abilities through writing, candle-making, and cooking.

“I write poetry and became an author in May 2016,” she said. “I started creating candles in 2019, and I am currently in the process of branching off to something more. Also, I love to cook, and I am self-taught. I take pride in my food.”

As a mother of three, Williams aspires to create her own business venture that would one day be passed down to her children.

“I want to be a full-time entrepreneur,” she said, “and I want to travel more to learn about different food cultures in other countries.”
